A Hadley Fire Dispatcher told 22News that the flames were so intense that they had to evacuate some nearby apartments.
No word on injuries or how the fire started.
22News talked to people who live in the area. They say they're sad to see all the businesses burn.
Harrison Petrone of Hadley told 22News, “Immediately we were worried about the businesses around here. We found out it was the complex that the Chinese food place was in and that stuff.”
“I do know one of the business owners, the owner of Gregory's Pastry Shop. So it's really sad to watch what he's created go,” said Paula Barrows of Pelham.
“It's devastating because now we have to travel to a different town to use the Laundromat. It's an inconvenience,” said Kenny Kowal of Hadley.
The Pioneer Valley Red Cross helped to keep the firefighters hydrated and help anyone who was standing outside.
