WARE, Mass. (WWLP) - Western Massachusetts gun dealers are struggling to keep up demand.
Ware Gun Shop owner Mike Weisser told 22News, he's having trouble keeping his shelves stocked.
His sales started increasing in late December after the school shooting in Newtown Connecticut.
Aside from firearms, Weisser says he's seen an uptick in ammunition sales as well. "I think that's partly due to the fear that background checks will be extended beyond firearms to ammunition which at this current time, there are no background checks for ammo."
Walmart announced Thursday it would begin rationing ammunition sales because of the high demand.
According to the FBI, background checks for gun sales reached their highest levels in 15 years over the past six weeks.
