NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Shippers are gearing-up for another busy season, and if you want your package to get there on time, there are some important shipping deadlines to keep in mind.
Northampton UPS Store manager Marion Walsh told 22News that the key to an on-time package arrival is shipping early. That is because there are only 21 shipping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, as opposed to the 32 shopping days that fall during that time period.
UPS' busiest day is expected to be December 20, when they will deliver an estimated 28 million packages; double their normal daily volume.
"With the influx of packages later on in the month, the closer we get to the holidays, they put the emphasis on guaranteed services," said Walsh, who added "There's an outside chance if you ship something ground it might not get there for the holiday."
"Guaranteed services" are overnight and 2-3 day shipping. "Ground service" is one to five business days. To avoid extra costs, Walsh says you must get your shipments in by the week of December 10.
Also, remember you can't ship alcohol or cash.
