AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - An Amherst police officer is still on duty, after allegedly being assaulted over the weekend at the Extravaganja event on the town common.
According to an Amherst police news release sent to 22News, Dylan Dresser, 24, of Greenfield is being charged with assault and battery on a police officer and disorderly conduct in connection with the incident on Saturday.
Dresser is accused of assaulting the officer while he was responding to a report of an unruly person at the outdoor event. The officer received minor injuries, and has remained on duty.
Dresser is also charged with damaging a police bicycle.
Roughly 6,000 people attended the event, which was organized by the UMass Cannabis Reform Coalition. Only one other arrest was made (on a warrant and for a charge possession with intent to sell marijuana). A total of 12 people were given citations for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.
