EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Drivers in Easthampton may find their travels a little bit easier starting Thursday afternoon, as the Manhan River Bridge on Route 10 will be re-opening ahead of schedule.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced that the bridge will re-open starting at about 3:30 P.M.
Work on the bridge caused it to close at the beginning of June, and was originally expected to take about six months. But according to MassDOT, they were able to get it done five weeks ahead of schedule, thanks to accelerated construction techniques and extended work horus.
Since June 3, traffic has been detoured around the bridge, which connects downtown Easthampton with the businesses on Route 10, as well as the city of Northampton.
