EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Police say they have arrested a man connected with a Mexican gang that was distributing large amounts of cocaine across Western Massachusetts. Joaquin "Chito" Carrillo, 29, of Easthampton was one of four people who was arrested as part of an investigation involving several federal agencies and state and local police departments in Hampden and Hampshire Counties.
According to a news release sent to 22News by the Easthampton Police Department, state, federal, and local law enforcement teams raided six houses or apartments in Easthampton, Northampton, Hadley, and Chicopee on Monday.
Inside Apartment H of 322 Main Street in Easthampton, police say they found about three kilograms of cocaine. At Carrillo's apartment inside 324 Main Street, nine bags of cocaine and packaging material was found, police say.
Carrillo is believed to be associated with a Mexican drug organization that was distributing cocaine locally. Pablo Drullard, 30, of Hadley, Yitzark Kaluche, 32, of Northampton, and Julio Vidal-Hermedia, 24, of Easthampton were also arrested. Easthampton Police say they expect more arrests, as the investigation continues.
The other houses or apartments that were raided are:
- 376 Easthampton Rd., Northampton
- 348 Old Springfield Rd., Northampton (Kaluche's residence; about 35g of cocaine found inside)
- 13 Norwattuck Dr., Hadley (Drullard's residence; 8g of cocaine and a 9mm semi-automatic pistol found inside)
- 16 Charles St., Apt 1R, Chicopee
