HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - A suspicious package that caused the bomb squad to be called to Hadley turned out to be nothing more than a plastic bag full of foam.
Hadley Fire Captain Michael Spanknebel told 22News that they were called after the bag was found outside the UMass Five College Credit Union on Westgate Center Drive.
Police had blocked-off the area as the bomb squad investigated, but Spanknebel said that the object was determined to be a black plastic bag full of the kind of wrapping foam that is used in the packaging of appliances.
The suspicious package scare in Hadley happened around the same time that a metal container was investigated in Springfield's Liberty Heights neighborhood. In that case, too, it was determined that there was no threat.
