NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Music could be heard coming from the Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence as the Pioneer Valley Gay Men's Chorus celebrated 20 years.
But it's more than just an anniversary for the singers.
"We are a bridge between the gay community and straight community,” said Musical Director Lawrence McFarland. “We often will go perform in churches or community groups and because we have been able to do that, I think we've been able to add to the advancement and acceptance of gay people."
The men are a diverse group, but say they all share a passion for music. Saturday night's concert included songs like "You Don't Own Me" and "Sweet Caroline".
