AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - A new report faults Amherst College for the school's handling of a rape report last year.
The school formed the Special Oversight Committee on Sexual Misconduct in October in response to reports of sexual assault on campus.
The report says the school did not effectively respond to the reported rape of a student in spring of 2012. The report also offered several suggestions on how the school can improve its current system.
The committee presented the report to the Board of Trustees and Amherst College President Biddy Martin during a recent meeting. Martin and the Board will hold an open meeting on Tuesday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Johnson Chapel on campus to respond to questions about the committee's work. They also hope to set a timeline for the implementations of the recommendations made in the report.
