NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - A tractor trailer truck got stuck under a the Main Street bridge just before 5:30 Monday afternoon at Main and Hawley Streets in Northampton.
The truck was removed, and no one was hurt. Traffic was reduced to one lane on Main Street during the process of pulling the truck out from beneath the bridge
Northampton Police Sgt. David Callahan told 22News that the driver is from Wisconsin. He was cited under a city ordinance for damaging artwork on the bridge.
Northampton Police say the driver didn't see the sign indicating the 11 foot height limit for trucks traveling under that bridge.
Crews deflate dthe tires, and pulled the trailer out backwards.
This is the second tractor to get stuck under a bridge in western Mass. Monday afternoon. A big rig crashed into a railroad overpass in downtown Springfield , reducing traffic to one lane for a time on Chestnut Street.
