SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - U.S soldiers based in Iraq and Afghanistan sat down for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner Thursday.
Soldiers in Iraq said they were looking forward to coming home.
The U.S plans to withdraw the remaining troops from Iraq by the end of the year.
Troops serving at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan also enjoyed a thanksgiving meal.
Their tour of duty is set to continue, and soldiers said they were proud to serve their country in Afghanistan.
President Obama also took some time to thank the men and women serving overseas.
From the oval office, president Obama called ten service members, two from each branch of the military.
Obama has made the thanksgiving calls each year since becoming president.
