WILLIAMSBURG, Mass. (WWLP) - Don Lawton made a lot of friends during his 47 years with the Williamsburg fire department.
Many of them attended Chief Lawton's retirement party Saturday afternoon in this Hampshire County community. Lawton's been chief for 13 of those 47 years.
As he began his retirement, the chief told 22News his days will be different now. "I hope I don't get drawn away daily for fires, enjoy my grandchildren and my wife," said Don Lawton.
Hundreds of friends and neighbors made sure not to miss congregating Chief Don Lawton, a fire department fixture for almost half a century.
