SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A bank robbery in Springfield forced several schools to preparefor a possible lock down on Wednesday.
Shortly before 9:00 a.m., a man walked into TD Banknorthbranch on Sumner Avenue in the Forest Park section of the city,handed the teller a note saying he was armed, and fled with anundetermined amount of money.
Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that policebegan searching for the suspect -- a black male, about6’1”, wearing a Yankees cap, gray hooded sweatshirt andbaggy sweatpants.
Police found the clothes dumped in an abandoned house onGrenada Terrace.
A short while later, police apprehended a suspect who is nowin custody and being questioned.
Kensington, Holy Name, and White Street schools were told toprepare for a lock down during the search.
