INDIAN ORCHARD, Mass. (WWLP) - Polish traditions transported to western Massachusetts years agowere very much in tune with the times Saturday afternoon at theImmaculate Conception Church in Indian Orchard.
For Generations Polish-Americans here in the Pioneer Valleyhave celebrated a Polka Mass in keeping with their culture at thePolish-American festival.
"You substitute traditional choir music and organ music withpolka music," said parishioner Ann Prcewoznik.
The parishioners at Immaculate conception were observing athree day festival known as Dozynki, the harvesting of grain inPoland.
This transplanted celebration affords polish americans achance to get together and continue sharing their heritage ofpolish food and of course the music.
The festivities will continue until Sunday night.
