LUDLOW, Mass.(WWLP) - For more than 60 years, the our lady of Fatima festa in Ludlowhas brought Portuguese Americans together from all over NewEngland.
Participants celebrated an open air mass in English outside ourlady of Fatima church with the candlelit procession of Fatima heldright afterwards.
The festa event goes all weekend with one of the highlightsbeing Sundays annual walk through several closed streets inLudlow.
And whether they come every year, or this was their first time,many say they're now dedicated to the centuries old tradition.
Norberto Bergantim from Taunton says “Our faith, our ladyof lord’s faith. It’s a Portuguese tradition. So as youcan see, It brings thousands of people here every year, so, I getto bring people over, im a driver. I do it every year, so it'sfun”
The procession is an honor of the Virgin Mary.
The beautiful weather helped attendance this year.
Thousands were walking around the festa, and listening in on theoutdoor mass.
