NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Northampton Police discovered a second male body floating in thewater on Sunday, not far from where the first body was found theday before.
According to a news release from Northampton Police, the secondmale body was discovered in an area of the meadows known as TwinPonds, near the Connecticut river on the southern end of town. Theysay the body was found floating in the water and there were nosigns of trauma.
On Saturday, the first male body was found nearby,half-submerged in the Mill River along Mount Tom Road near theOxBow Marina. It was found in the afternoon by a man canoeing.
The two discoveries are worrying some area residents.
"It's a little disconcerting knowing that the two happenedone day apart. You always suspect foul play," Janice Wilsonsaid.
The area is frequented by people walking their dogs, dirtbiking, fishing and off-roading.
For Jennifer Stuart, it's too close for comfort. She lives rightnear the entrance to the area.
"It's a little scary, cause I walk my dog back there everyday. I don't know I just want to know what happened," shesaid..
Northampton Police are being joined by the Crime Scene ServicesUnit and State Police Detectives Unit in their investigation.
Police aren't releasing any other information until thebodies are identified pending autopsy results.
