(WWLP) - A Marine from western Massachusetts is determined to recoverfrom the injures he suffered in combat.
26 year old Marine Sergeant Joshua Bouchard of Amherst andGranby was seriously injured in Afghanistan on July 7th.
An improvised explosive device exploded while he was ridingin a convoy with his unit.
Sergeant Bouchard lost his left leg, fractured his rightarm, and suffered back injuries from shrapnel.
He is recovering at Landstul Medical Center in Germany,where his parents have been at his bedside.
His sister, Irene Bouchard said her brother will betransferred to Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland on Friday.
Irene Bouchard said her brother is fully aware of hisinjuries and is determined to deal with them.
Marine Sergeant Bouchard enlisted in the Marines in 2004,served two tours in Iraq before his deployment to Afghanistan andrecently re-enlisted.
He is in the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd MarineDivision, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, NorthCarolina.
