SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Springfield Finance Control Board Tuesday afternoon gave itsOK to the purchase of the two Catholic schools.
The city will purchase the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Schooland the Our Lady of Hope School from the Diocese of Springfield for$7.7 million.
The Zanetti School will move to the Our Lady of Hope building,while the Balliet School will relocate to Our Lady of Sacred Heartfacility.
One parent at Zanetti thinks the move will be good. Loanis Restotold 22News, "This building is an old building, so it's always agood idea to have improvements. And the kids are going to have morespace, so I think it's going to be great."
Mayor Domenic Sarno contends that purchasing the two Catholicschools will save the city $45 million over the long haul.
