BOSTON (WWLP) - The eight-year old boy killed in the Boston Marathon explosions was there to watch his father compete in the world-famous race.
Our sister station WHDH-TV reports that Martin Richard, 8, of Dorchester, was killed following the two explosions on Boylston Street near the Marathon finish line. Richard is one of three people who have died following the explosion.
The third grader was watching the race with his mother and six year-old sister, both of whom were wounded. Richard's mother had to have surgery following a brain injury, while his sister lost her leg, WHDH reports.
More than 140 people were wounded in the blasts, and 15 remain in critical condition at Boston area hospitals.
