CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Despite small gains, many Americans still consider the economy poor.
According to a new CNN-ORC survey, 44 percent of Americans say their financial situation is actually worse today than it was a year ago.
The number of Americans who believe the economy is improving are in the minority, but that number is slowly and steadily increasing.
Adrian Ferreira, a roofing business owner, told 22News he's seeing a lot of improvements in his industry, compared to a few years ago.
Ferreira told 22News, "Deals have been closing a lot faster. Before people used to say I have to wait for my bank to get a loan. Now actually we get a lot of payments up front. "
Ferreira said when the economy was worse he hoped to sell just one roof a week. He sold six alone on Wednesday.
He also said a few years ago he was searching Craigslist for a used truck for work. This year he was able to afford two new work vehicles.
