FREETOWN, Mass. (WPRI) - Police are investigating after a man set off illegal fireworks in Freetown early Wednesday morning.
At about 4 a.m., there were reports of a loud explosion in the area of Forge Road. State and local police responded and determined that a young man had set off the fireworks; state officials say he will face charges, although he is cooperating with investigators.
Several hours later, police executed a search warrant on Bates Street in New Bedford. Officials confirmed that the same man had apparently also used fireworks in that city, although it wasn't clear if any additional charges were expected.
