CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The 22News I-Team has new information about Penn National Gaming's plans in western Massachusetts.
A Penn National Gaming spokesman told the 22News I-Team, Penn National is no longer interested in obtaining the gaming license in western Massachusetts. However, Penn National is still evaluating it's options in other regions in the state.
Springfield picked MGM over Penn National to negotiate it's host community agreement. Penn National had proposed a plan in the city's North End.
Since Penn National has paid the state a $400,000 application fee it is free to negotiate with other cities and towns. The 22News I-Team has reported that Penn National had at least preliminary talks with Chicopee about its Cabotville location.
While things can still change, it appears that MGM in Springfield, Mohegan Sun in Palmer and Hard Rock in West Springfield will be the three competitors for the western Massachusetts Gaming License.
