(NBCNC) - One day after a mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard shocked the nation and left 13 dead, the FBI is looking for answers.
Investigators are trying to determine what motivated the alleged shooter, Aaron Alexis, and how he got access to the secure facility.
Alexis was a former member of the Navy currently working as a contractor on a computer project at the Yard.
The Associated Press reports the Veterans Administration had been treating the 34-year-old for mental health problems including paranoia and sleep disorder.
