(1934-2012) - David Morris Guidi, 77, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Baystate Medical Center. Born October 23, 1934, in Springfield, he was graduated from Trade High School, after which he began his career in machine design as a draftsman at Bausch Machine Tool Company. He was able to advance his skill in machine design while in the U. S. Marine Corps. Honorably discharged from active duty in 1959 and on reserve for years later, David was always proud to have been a Marine. After his military service, David launched a successful career as an independent machine tool designer. His clients ranged from Gulf & Western companies to U. S. Navy contractors. In retirement, he worked as a security guard at Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company and was on the job when his heart began to fail. A fine home cook, David enjoyed seafood and Italian cuisine. Eggplant parmigiana was a favorite dish. He was interested in small boats and had built one during his military service at Camp Lejeune. He also enjoyed books, movies and television programming about political and military history, the antics of his two Himalayan cats and a good joke.
David leaves his wife Sandra Piras Guidi of Agawam, and Deborah and Susan Guidi, daughters from his former marriage to Ann Samay Guidi, all of Feeding Hills. He also leaves sisters, Claire Scott of Feeding Hills, Josephine Bradley of Lemoore, CA, and Luisa Guidi of West Springfield.
