(1932-2013) - Rita M. (Redmond) Follett, 92, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Born Chicopee, daughter of the late Charles and Beatrice (Forant) Redmond, she grew up in West Springfield and was a 1939 graduate of West Springfield High School. Rita had worked at Friendly's, Sears and for an accounting firm in Greensboro, NC. She moved to Agawam in 1992 and previously lived in West Springfield and Greensboro, NC. She was an active member of the Agawam Senior Center where she sang in their choir and was a member of the Emblem Club of the Agawam-West Springfield Lodge of Elks. She also was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. Her husband, Myron Follett died in 1994.
She leaves three sons, Myron Follett, Jr. and his wife Ellen of West Springfield, Kenneth F. Follett of Agawam, Charles J. Follett of West Springfield, a daughter, Deborah Follett of Agawam, and three grandchildren, Steven and his wife Caitlin Follett, Mark Follett and his fiancé, Laura Tetro, and Lauren and her husband Jared Olanoff.
The funeral will be Thursday at 9am from the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street, with a Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church at 10. The burial will follow in Paucatuck Cemetery in West Springfield. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7pm. Donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
