SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Alliance to Develop Power rallied together in Springfield Thursday.
About 50 protesters walked down Main Street, carrying signs and chanting against Big Banks, in particular Bank of America.
The group is supporting foreclosed and struggling homeowners in Springfield. Their gripe is over Bank of America's tax refund of more than $600 million llars.
"There's so many people suffering and they have to do something they have to submit.
They can't continue to go on and think they can ignore us, because we aren't going away," said Diane McCloud of Alliance to Develop Power.
In response, Bank of America sent a statement to 22News that read: "Over the last 10 years, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch have paid more than $40 billion in income taxes in the United States. Like any taxpayer, you don't pay income taxes if you don't have income, and in 2009 and 2010 we reported losses in the U.S."
