(WWLP) - Call him the "Baseball Cap Bandit". Police say a rash of bankrobberies all lead to one suspect who wears a Red Sox or Yankeescap.
Police say one man has robbed six banks in western Massachusettsand Connecticut in December alone.
He's usually dressed the same -- sporting a Red Sox or Yankeesbaseball hat, a dark hoodie, glasses, gloves and a mustache.
According to West Springfield Detective Jay Gearing, his M-O isthe same too.
"His MO is walking into the bank, passing a note, demandingmoney, claiming to have a gun and walking out of the bank calmly,"he said.
Despite knocking off six banks, Det. Gearing says he continuesto elude police.
"The hardest thing is we don't have a lot to go on, he seems tovanish once he exits the bank we haven't had a lot of witnesses,"he said.
Here's a rundown of his alleged haunts:
December 3rd -- The Federal Credit Union in Enfield onCranbrook Boulevard
December 3rd -- Sovereign Bank in Chicopee on Center Street
December 8th -- Webster Bank in West Springfield on ElmStreet
December 12 -- TD BankNorth in Chicopee on Meadow Street.
December 18th -- New Alliance Bank in East Longmeadow onSomers Road.
December 29th -- Westfield Savings Bank in Agawam on MainStreet.
Police say this robber is particularly brazen for the fact thathe acts often and doesn't disguise himself well. And when he hitthe Webster bank in early December on Elm Street, he was across thestreet from the police department.
Det. Gearing is asking for the public's help to put the BaseballCap Bandit behind bars, if you see him walking around or about tostrike he urges people to call police.
