Go Green in Agawam sponsored an energy savings seminar onMonday, where local homeowners learned the state is making iteasier than ever to make their homes energy efficient.
Go Green Co-chair Jill Messick told 22News putting thought inyour home energy plan now can save both money and the environmentdown the road.
“You can call the phone numbers on your gas or electricbill and they will send out an auditor to do an energy audit onyour home for free,” she said. “They will go throughthe house with a fine tooth comb. I had one done myself.”
Messick said the best piece advice she's ever received was toplug all of her electronic devices into a power strip and turn itoff when she left home or went to sleep. Over the course of twomonths, she said she saved $98.
“If you have a blinking light or a clock anywhere inyour house, that thing is drawing a lot of electricity and you canmake a substantial difference,” she said.
