FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WWLP) - The New England Patriots defeat division rival New York Jets in the home opener at Gillette Stadium, in Week 2 of the 2013 NFL Regular Season.

In Week 1, the Patriots played sloppy football against the Buffalo Bills; winning the game, with 5 seconds left in the fourth quarter, 23-21.
According to the Associated Press, after just one game, the ranks of Patriots runners and receivers are being depleted. Shane Vereen broke his left wrist, Danny Amendola aggravated a groin injury, and tight end Rob Gronkowski is listed as doubtful.
"When people are injured, that's why you have a deep roster," Tom Brady said, "guys that you have confidence in, that you've gained trust in, and I certainly have that at the skill position."
The Patriots finished the preseason 3-1, beating the NY Giants, 28-20, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 25-21, and the Philadelphia Eagles, 31-22. The Patriots did however suffer an embarrassing loss against the Detroit Lions, losing 40-9.
In the 2012 NFL Season, the Patriots ended the regular season with a 12-4 record, making it to the the AFC Championship. Unfortunately they lost to the Super Bowl Champions, the Baltimore Ravens, who played in the 2013 NFL season game opener, and lost to the Denver Broncos, 49-27.
