CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The rain and wind we had on Friday can make for potentially dangerous conditions on the roads.
The gusty winds knocked a lot of leaves off the trees and with the rain it can create some problems. Winds gusted over 40 MPH earlier on Friday and that took a lot of leaves off the trees. The leaves have been collecting on some roads and sidewalks and that makes for a potentially danger when it's combined with some rain.
James Knight of Feeding Hills told 22News, “I take precautions, the roads can be slippery. You hit the leaves on a day like today you will slide so you do have to be careful out there.”
“I have my properties so before I go home today we clean all the sidewalks. They're slippery, you get two or three leaves on them you're going to fall, some one's going to fall they're really slippery,” said John Dupre of West Springfield.
You'll also want to get those leaves off your lawn before winter weather arrives. If you don't, the leaves will smother your grass and your lawn could die. If you're driving, take it slow on those leaf covered roads and over the weekend you should be able to get out and do some raking.
