EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) - Many people put their outdoor project plans on hold this past Memorial Day weekend; costing a lot of businesses money.
Outdoor businesses that relied upon customers this past holiday weekend struggled, in large part they say, due to the weather.
Many residents decided that going outside for gardening, painting, and building was worth waiting until they saw clear skies. Others decided it was better to take-on indoor projects.
Rocky's Ace Hardware in East Longmeadow saw some customers looking for indoor paints and supplies over the weekend. But the Assistant Manager of the store told 22News now customers are coming in greater numbers to finish the projects outside that they did not have a chance to finish.
"Now that it's getting nicer out, they're coming in and looking to finish up the projects that they didn't do this weekend. So we are definitely starting to get an influx this week," Carl Combs of Rocky's said.
A couple of people 22News spoke with Tuesday said that they are trying to get those projects off their "to do" list, but are juggling with the work week, so they are running to stores when they can.
