CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - You may be one of the many planning on traveling over the holiday weekend but some people are planning to stay closer home.
Heavy rain earlier this summer made for high water and dangerous boating conditions. But now that the water is a lot calmer it looks like it could be a pretty good weekend for boaters.
At the Oxbow Marina in Northampton they're expecting a pretty good turn out for Labor Day Weekend.
“Well it's one of the big last weekends of the summer so we're hoping a lot of people come down here and use their investment so we're anticipating a big turn out this weekend,” said Clay Duda, General Manager of the Oxbow Marina.
Some people are planning to spend time at Chicopee Memorial State Park.
“We'll be taking advantage of hiking, most likely swimming and just enjoying the park and the food,” said Evelyn Cruz of Chicopee.
And others also have plans to spend time outdoors.
“Tomorrow I'm planning to walk in the Stone Soul Parade in Springfield and just enjoy the weekend with my family at home,” said Ruben Davis III of Springfield.
So we should see some sunshine this weekend but it looks like we may have to deal with some showers and thunderstorms as well.
