NEW SALEM, Mass. (WWLP) - On Sunday, September 1st a strong thunderstorm passed over the Quabbin Reservoir just after 6 p.m.
A 22News viewer sent us a picture of what looked like a waterspout over the Quabbin Reservoir near New Salem.
The National Weather Service in Taunton reviewed the picture and spoke to the person that took it. On Saturday they confirmed it was a waterspout, which is essentially a tornado that forms over water.
The National Weather Service said it was a weak waterspout. It didn't last long and there were no injuries or damage reported.
