NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - At the Oxbow Marina in Northampton, people from all over western Massachusetts couldn't pass up a gorgeous Saturday to get out on the water.
"The conditions are perfect, the wind, the sun, not too cold, just right. It's perfect," said Karen Popielarczyk of Easthampton.
This weather followed unusually cool weather to end the week, yet just a week ago western Massachusetts was at the end of a week long heat wave.
Saturday's summer warmth without the humidity made for the perfect excuse to get out on the water, or to watch a waterskiing show.
The month of June was very wet with almost double normal monthly rainfall. However July has been a drier, more normal month which has certainly helped for river activities.
Some boaters told 22News the more typical rainfall this month has cut down on the amount of debris in the water, but the river isn't completely back to normal conditions after being incredibly high a few weeks ago.
"We did go out last weekend, the river was pretty good, it was down, but the current was pretty swift so this weekend we're probably just going to hang out here and enjoy the dock and the people," said Chris Kirstein of Belchertown.
