GRANBY, Mass. (WWLP) - While many of us are thankful for very little snow so far this season, some people are praying for more.
Private snow plowing companies had a very slow business last winter, and a lot is riding on this winter's outlook.
Many people depend on snowy roads for their income in the late fall and winter seasons. Louis Capone, who owns a snow plowing business, told 22News that a lot goes into making roads safe for the rest of us.
"Everybody thinks you just go out and plow. There's a lot of preparation before the storms, it takes us two months just to get everything ready, it's not just a matter of popping the plow on and going to work,' said Capone, who also owns a summer-based business: Capone's Pool Water.
Regular maintenance of the plow, brakes, hydraulics, and sanders are expensive requirements, but the more snow that falls during the winter, the more this effort is worthwhile and profitable.
