CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued by the National Weather Service Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, and Berkshire Counties has concluded.
Several scattered but severe thunderstorms had developed over Pennsylvania and upstate New York, and moved to the east and northeast. The primary threat from these storms has been quarter-sized hail and winds with gusts of up to 60 miles per hour.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means that conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms. It is different from a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, which means that a severe thunderstorm is imminent, or already happening.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was in effect for most of WMass Wednesday night from 8PM to 9:30PM.
