WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Hundreds of tree and line workers are in western Massachusetts, ready to help in the efforts to restore power if necessary.
Many contracted by Western Massachusetts Electric Company gathered at the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield as they waited for Sandy's effects to arrive.
One group from Kentucky told 22News that this is their first time in western Massachusetts, and judging by past storms we've had, they're prepared to be here for a while.
David Jones told 22News, "Quite honest with you maybe it could be a week or two weeks for all we know we're really not sure at the moment."
The winds from Sandy could reach 60 miles per hour, which could cause heavy damage to trees and power lines.
