OLDSMAR, Fla. (WFLA) - A waterspout that briefly made it to land as a tornado damaged a home in Oldsmar, Florida Monday.
A Pinellas County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said the tornado damaged shingles to the home, snapped branches from trees, blew over a mailbox and snapped a guy wire, causing a transformer to blow out.
Deputies said the resident of the damaged home left as she saw the tornado approach and wasn't injured.
Dozens of people spotted the waterspout near Oldsmar Monday around 6:36 pm.
"My brother-in-law mentioned to me just a little spin in the clouds," said Daniel Whitney, who was going to play tennis with his family. "We saw this big spout coming up from the water connect basically to the funnel cloud that was coming down."
