WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The last day of the Big E continued the trend of incredible weather that has lasted almost the entire 17 days.
"You could not ask for better weather than this," said Rick Ramponi from Wilbraham.
Fairgoers admit it's tough to enjoy a fair on a rainy day.
"It's definitely not as fun. Definitely very wet and cold and it's definitely more fun when it's sunny and beautiful like today," said Brooke Carta from Middletown, CT.
There was some concern that rain during the second Saturday of the Big E, which is normally the busiest day of the ENTIRE fair, would have a negative impact on overall numbers.
However, it's clear our last week of sunshine more than made up for that.
According to the Big E's website, with a day to spare the Big E broke it's all time attendance record with over 1.37 million people visiting this year and no doubt the weather played a huge role in the success.
One person 22News spoke with has noticed the increase in people walking around.
"It definitely seems more crowded so far, especially being earlier in the morning," said Amy Carta from Middletown, Connecticut.
With total attendance through Saturday more than 11 thousand higher than the previous record set last year, once Sunday's numbers are factored in...the Big E 2013 will be tough to beat.
"I'm happy for them here at the Big E because in years past it's rained and I know the numbers decrease in the rain and really for September this is awesome,” said Leigh Stellato from Wilbraham.
