WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) - Chicopee resident, Guillmermo Parro, has tried using fitness Applications on his Smartphone.
"I've tried walking App, the one that measures your steps or how your running and the time that your running," Parro said about the trial run, but told 22News he wasn't a fan, and opted to stick with working out minus the App.
But there are thousands to choose from and one of them could fit your niche. It’s important to note, however, that these Apps are only useful if they are used consistently, according to Henri Lafond Personal Fitness Coach, at West Springfield’s Healthtrax.
"It's easier to be successful with these kind of APPs if you're really into using your Smartphone. And a lot of people love their gadgets so for those people, those are the people that will probably see the most success," Lafond said.
Applications, like My Fitness Pal, Fooducate, and Lose It !, count your calorie intake and are recommended by nutrition experts.
"Yes, as a dietician we always had patients keep, had clients, keep a food journal, a written food journal but because everyone's in such a rush this and an easy way to keep track," Paula Serfino-Cross, Registered Dietitian at Baystate Medical Center, told 22News.
