LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) - State Police say they discovered nearly 200 bags of what they believe to be heroin during a traffic stop on I-91 northbound in Longmeadow earlier this week.
State Police Media Relations notified 22News that Philip Patoine, 27, of Brattleboro, Vermont, and Cassandra Gale, 29, also of Vermont, were arrested following the stop Monday night.
Police say that around 8:00, a trooper pulled Patoine over for speeding. They discovered that neither he nor Gale, his passenger, were properly licensed to drive.
Investigating further, troopers allegedly found nearly 200 bags of a white powdery substance believed to be heroin inside the car.
Both Patoine and Gale are being charged with possession of a Class A substance, conspiracy to violate drug law, and knowingly being present where heroin is being kept. Patoine faces additional traffic charges, and a charge of giving a false name to a police officer.
