HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - The city of Holyoke came alive with ghostly and ghoulish creatures. People got dressed up in their best Halloween costumes to just have fun in Holyoke's Heritage Park.
The monstrous event started with dinner and dancing and picked up at around 6 o'clock with a creature crawl.
Scott Donelon of Longmeadow told 22News, “Just hanging out here in Holyoke. Seems like there's a parade going on. There are a lot of people dressed up in costume. Kids are having fun and there's a lot of great music.
“We've just been skating around. Looking at people in their costumes. Having fun being dressed up. I don't think I'm that scary,” said Greta Shaver of Northampton.
John Novo of Holyoke told 22News, “It's great. There's a lot of great stuff happening in Holyoke. It's an up and coming city. There are a lot of good cultural activities and just fun family activities.”
All the people in costume also got together for a parade along the canal and rides on the city's famed enchanted merry-go-round.
Money raised from Saturday night's Holyoke Halloween will go toward restoring 13 stained glass windows inside Holyoke City Hall.
