SPRINGFIELD/LUDLOW, Mass. (WSC) - On October 21, 2013 the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission will begin a routine maintenance project to test the water flow capacity of several water mains in Springfield and Ludlow.
The maintenance project will consist of Commission staff opening and flowing hydrants. This project will last about 30-days.
Hydrant flow testing is a routine operation that can cause short periods of discolored, but safe water. If you experience discolored water, run all cold-water faucets for two to three minutes, shut the water off, allow the water to settle for about 15 minutes, and run the water again for two to three minutes.
If the water does not run clear, repeat this process. Do not run the hot water faucets until the cold water runs clear. Thank you for your cooperation during this project.
If you have questions or comments, please call Customer Field Service at (413) 787-6206.
