EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) - There's a mysterious outbreak going around, that's affecting household pets. The FDA says nearly 600 dogs have died, and 3,600 dogs and cats have been sickened, after they were fed jerky treats.
The FDA says some of these treats are made in China. But the problem is, scientists still have not been able to pinpoint the source of this outbreak.
All we know is that jerky treats can be very dangerous to dogs of every size, age, and breed; 10 cats have also been reported getting sick after eating chicken, duck and sweet potato jerky treats.
The FDA has released a special fact sheet detailing on its website, to make pet owners aware of the possible symptoms. Veterinarians are also being asked by the government agency to post this information in their offices.
