(WWLP) - Voters in Holyoke will choose between first-term Mayor Alex Morse and accountant Jeff Stanek on November 5, and the two candidates met for a live debate on 22News on Wednesday, October 30.
The two candidates debated on issues like education, public safety, the attendance of both the mayor and his challenger at community meetings, and the future of the Mount Tom coal plant.
In advance of Election Day, 22News is hosting a series of debates. Here is the schedule:
Thursday, October 31: WESTFIELD- Second-term Mayor Daniel Knapik will debate his challenger, Michael Roeder, who is retired.
- Friday, November 1: EASTHAMPTON- The four candidates seeking to become the mayor of Easthampton, Karen Cadieux, Nancy Sykes, David Ewing, and Herbert Glazier, will debate in a forum. Incumbent Mayor Michael Tautznik is not seeking re-election.
In addition, on Sunday afternoon, 22News inFocus will host a debate for the Massachusetts Senate seat in the 2nd Hampden and Hampshire District, which was vacated by longtime Sen. Michael Knapik. Republican State Rep. Don Humason of Westfield will debate Democratic Holyoke City Councilor David Bartley. The debate will be moderated by inFocus host Laura Hutchinson.
