SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - An early morning water main break in Springfield will cause long term traffic issues on Tiffany Street.
The break happened at the intersection of Groveland Street around 3:00 Wednesday morning.
22News spoke with George Romano Jr., Administrative Director of the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission, who explained that the break caused damage to 300 feet of Tiffany Street.
One resident said that she was stunned at the amount of damage the break caused to the recently improved road.
"They just did this road, too. This is amazing to me, they literally just re-paved all that. To see all that just caved in, this was just re-done," Skylar Pass said.
The Water and Sewer Commission is Working with the DPW to come up with a traffic plan that will detour traffic for as long as it takes to repair that road. They advise drivers avoid that area for now.
