NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - A new report says national home sale prices dropped in the month of September.
A new National Association of Realtors report found that fewer homes were bought in the month of September and that higher mortgage rates are to blame.
But DeLap Realtors told 22News that prices in Hampshire County have gone up 16% since June.
DeLap Real Estate Agent Sally Malsch told 22News that Hampshire County's market is healthy; the median price for a single family home in Amherst is $360,000.
"In the third quarter actually we had an uptick in sales, 7.4%," she explained. "So, actually it's been very positive in our area."
Malsch says what did impact sales this month was the government shutdown, making potential home buyers uncertain.
