Womens History

A networking event in Springfield Wednesday night for women interested in careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The event entitled, “She Works in STEM,” was held at the UMass Center in Springfield’s Tower Square.

It brought together women professionals, community college STEM majors, and high-school aged girls considering careers in STEM.

Women and girls made connections with current and future STEM leaders.

Kristin Carlson, co-owner and president of Peerless Precision Manufacturing in West Springfield, told 22News, “It’s really rewarding being able to break down the doors and the walls and the glass ceilings that I have, I really want to encourage other women to follow suit.”

The region’s four-community colleges’ STCC, and Greenfield, Holyoke, and  Berkshire Community  Colleges all co-sponsored the event.
