Next Sunday everyone that visits Holyoke will be Irish for the day. The annual Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade is right around the corner and thousands of people are already feeling the excitement.
The Annual Hibernian Communion Breakfast was held Sunday morning at The Wherehouse? in Holyoke and the parade was the main topic of discussion.
Paul Hogan President of Ancient Order of Hibernians said, “We had a very good turn out. We are getting prepped for the parade next week. We will have three floats going in it and they are just about done with them now.”
This year marks the 68th Annual Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade. But the parade committee still finds ways to make it new and exciting, along with many new additions there will be five new floats featured in the parade.
Devin Sheehan Holyoke Parade President told 22News, “Yeah we are really excited the parade is about a week away from today. Hopefully the weather is a little bit better seven days out but we have new bands this year we have five or six new floats for the first time ever in the parade so that’s exciting.”
Sheehan also said the parade committee is working closely with the Holyoke DPW to make sure the roads are clean and potholes are filled in order to ensure everyone’s safety.
The 68th annual Holyoke St. Patrick’s Parade takes place on St. Patrick’s Day this year on Sunday, March 17.
If you don’t plan on attending the parade or would rather watch it from the comfort of your home, you can find it broadcasted live on the CW Springfield. The parade will also be streamed live on our website WWLP.com on parade day at noon.
