Hard cider cocktail brews for the grownups

Mass Appeal

This witch’s brew of three cocktails will keep the grownups happy this Halloween. Tinky Weisblat from TinkyCooks.com and David Kellogg from Headwater Cider join us with three hard cider cocktail ideas. 

For the Cider Gold Rush (Bourbon cider bees’ knees)


2 ounces rye
3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
3/4 ounce honey simple syrup
Hard cider as needed
a slice of lemon

Cooking Directions:

In a cocktail shaker combine and mix the rye, lemon juice, and simple syrup.  Pour the mixture into a 9-ounce glass, add cider to taste, and garnish with a wheel of lemon.

For the Autumn Mimosa


maple syrup as needed
2 ounces Hard Cider 
Prosecco as needed
Grand Marnier as needed (about 1/2 ounce)

Cooking Directions:

Line a flute glass with maple syrup using a squirt bottle. Pour in the cider and almost fill the glass with Prosecco. Top it off with a little Grand Marnier.

For the Monk’s Garde


2 ounces rum
1/2 ounce yellow or green chartreuse
3/4 ounce honey simple syrup
3 dashes Masala bitters
Hard Cider as needed

Cooking Directions:

In a cocktail shaker, combine and mix the rum, chartreuse, simple syrup, and bitters. Pour the mixture into a 9-ounce glass, and fill it with cider.
